This edition of Student Spotlight shines on Severn School’s Rob Dubinski.
One of the best academic decisions I have made throughout my high school career was deciding to take my two MSON courses, Data Structures and Design Patterns and Multivariable Calculus.
Both of these classes present me with challenging curriculums that continually force me to approach problems in different ways and push me out of my comfort zone. As a STEM-oriented person, the opportunity to take multivariable calculus and a computer science course on data structures and algorithms while still in high school is amazing. I have also enjoyed the independent nature of the classes. Since the classes only meet twice a week, most of the material is learned outside of class. This has forced me to become an independent learner, which I believe will prove invaluable in college next year.
The classes have also introduced me to a multitude of bright, motivated peers throughout the country that I have formed strong bonds with. This aspect of the network is highly valuable and allows me to break up my day by interacting with different groups of people.
