I have really enjoyed the three (soon to be four) MSON courses I’ve taken because they are definitely challenging and focus on things one wouldn’t normally learn in a regular high school setting; they’re more like college courses. Class discussions are fun, the teachers are chill, and what we learn is just overall pretty cool. MSON teachers have really interesting backgrounds, which makes them especially qualified to teach a bunch of smart kids who ask a lot of tricky questions. It’s useful too.
The Finance course taught me things I can use all my life, and Multivariable Calc and Organic Chem are going to be useful when I get to college. I will say that MSON courses are not the easiest thing on earth, but if you can handle it, then definitely go for it. (It’s not that the workload is heavy, it’s just that it keeps coming.) One big thing I really like is that we make friends. Even though we meet only twice a week, we develop community, have group chats, share Instagram, and things like that. Now I have friends in Vermont, friends who are doing great things in college, friends all around the U.S. who are really smart people and who have found similarities. Prairie School is a small community and MSON presents a larger world than any single school can.
