MSON 2026 Workshop

Join Us for MSON’s Annual Workshop

Monday, June 15 – Thursday, June 18, 2026

MSON Host: Porter-Gaud School

Join us in historic Charleston, South Carolina, at Porter-Gaud School, where Spanish moss, coastal light, and infamous Lowcountry cuisine invite reflection, connection, and energetic renewal.

The immersive workshop marks the launch of the MSON Course Refresh Cohort — dedicated time to step back from the pace of the school year, revisit the purpose at the heart of your course, and begin meaningful redesign alongside similarly curious, insightful, passionate colleagues. Together, you’ll leave with a clear Course Refresh Plan and the structure of a yearlong collaborative cohort to support implementation.

Day 1 – June 15th

Day 1 is an opportunity to take in our local surroundings, receive opening remarks from the Executive Director, and connect with other workshop recipients during a casual cocktail reception.

Day 2 – June 16th

Day 2 focuses on what makes for a meaningful educational experience, translating brick-and-mortar courses into a “flipped” context, course pacing and assessments, and the unique opportunities afforded by teaching online. We include time for implementation, as well for exploring our host school’s campus, before concluding the day with a group dinner.

Day 3 – June 17th

Day 3 features a session led by Executive Coach Alexis Stern, an opportunity to hear directly from former MSON students, and continued course design.

Day 4 – June 18th

Day 4 is an opportunity for continued implementation, follow-up conversations, details about MSON policies and procedures, and goal setting for the coming year. We’ll enjoy a boxed lunch and conclude with plenty of time for everyone to head home or perhaps you’ll choose to stay and explore more of beautiful Charleston!

I felt it was so well planned out and modeled good teaching, far too often pd for teachers fails that basic test. Here I had a chance to generate ideas and discuss them, then immediately have some time to implement them. It was a wonderful balance.

This was among the most valuable PD opportunities I’ve attended in my years of teaching, both for onboarding via MSON and developing meaningful relationships with a national network of colleagues.
